Moving with the trend...blogging!
I've moved from my website to a blogging page! This will be a quicker way to share all the fun I'm having at school with the students! Thanks for following along!

My name is Joy and as some of
you may already know, I am joining the Becthold family and will be joyfully
working with students at Washington Elementary School in the fall. I am a
Professional Therapy Dog and have my very own license(I can't drive
though)! I am a Bernese Mountain Dog and am 2 1/2 years old. I am big and fuzzy like a bear, but much sweeter!
I'm training the Becthold family this week so they know all of the rules, then
we will be heading back to Iowa. I was born and raised right here in
Kansas, but Cooper said I will love Iowa! Go Hawkeyes! I love birds! Thank to all of you who supported my adoption! I promise
to do a good job!

21st-Day 4 training

Today
was TEST day! First we went to a facility to watch some gentlemen get
their awards for helping train the dogs in class. Then we set off to
complete a test in a restaurant to demonstrate our knowledge of the policies
and rules in these settings. Finally we drove to a large mall and
finished the Public Access Test. We had to do all sorts of things like
down/stay, come, down/stay (Gina walked out of side and Joy had to sit under
a table and wait for her return), and "pass" the distraction
portion too. It is hard to ignore someone putting pizza crust 1 inch
from your nose as well as strangers petting you, stepping over you, and
rolling tennis balls past. My Lab friends had a hard time with the
tennis ball! I did a wonderful job, if I do say so myself!
Hopefully I will pass my certification tomorrow and will be on the road to my
new home in Iowa!
